Abstract

Hydrogen is increasingly viewed as a key energy carrier for decarbonizing heavy industry and long-haul transportation. This chapter reviews solid-state, liquid, and compressed gas hydrogen storage technologies, comparing gravimetric density, volumetric density, safety characteristics, and economic costs. Emerging metal-organic framework materials are highlighted as promising directions.
